We apologise that at present there is so little new content on Rosslyn St. Clair website. In common with every other Masonic Lodge in Scotland we are closed because of the Covid-19 pandemic; no Meetings, no Functions, no Social Gatherings, formal or informal, and, inevitably, nothing of interest to report. So the Home page looks just a little bare.
But there is hope on the horizon. Innovative Covid vaccines are either medically approved or urgently seeking such approval and, while it may take some time yet, there is every hope that all masonic activity can be resumed in the foreseeable future – and that our web page will again show some interesting content. Meanwhile, our internet shop remains open for you to treat yourself or another Brother to a themed Christmas gift. Click on the tab at the top of the page.
It is with great regret and sadness that we intimate the passing to The Grand Lodge Above of Bro. Peter Avent in the early hours of 9 October 2020. Brother Peter was Initiated in Lodge Rosslyn St. Clair No. 606 on 27th March 1985 and progressed to take his Mark Degree on 23rd November in the same year; he had recently suffered a very severe stroke from which he sadly was unable recover. As a Chief Inspector of Police, Peter was on the front line in many notable homicide cases throughout Scotland, including the Lockerbie tragedy.
Bro. Alex’s Ponytail
Congratulations to our DM/Almoner Bro Alex Barrett PM for fundraising a fantastic £3,000 for Prostate Scotland – last year Alex grew a ponytail and launched a competition to guess the length when it was cut in December 2019. Due to the current Covid-19 lockdown the cheque presentation ceremony was unfortunately not able to go ahead but we managed to get a socially distanced photograph. We are all so proud of our Alex and the huge amount he raised to assist in the defeat of prostate cancer. Even after his haircut that full head of hair will be the envy of many a Brother!
The Lodge AGM is held at this meeting in February each year with the main business being the adoption of the Balance Sheet and Accounts for the year 2018/19. Thereafter, the Initiation which had to be postponed in January will be held this evening following which we will welcome our first new Entered Apprentice of 2020.
